can we have some clarification on the sacking of the cl's?

Category: Zone BBS Suggestions and Feedback

Post 1 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Wednesday, 28-Mar-2007 15:37:27

the other post appears to have got a bit full so I thought I'd start a new one.

have found out recently to my horror that mel/dan/scot have all been sacked as cl's, and the only explanation that appears to be forthcoming is that "due to abuce".

The three cl's in question aren't just cl's, they are good friends to many of us on this site, and while I appreciate that this is j's site and he can essentially do with it what he wants, I do think that we as users have a right to know why our friends have been treated in this way.

Considering they have all been given lifetime premium memberships, it sounds to me like more than a wrongdoing on their part, after all, if they had done wrong then the admin wouldn't feel the need to compensate them for their sacking surely?

Post 2 by Rune Knight (Ancient Demon - Darkness will always conquer Light!) on Wednesday, 28-Mar-2007 15:50:25

They themselves haven't yet got an explanation why got sacked so I doubt we'll ever know I just think it's wrong how J went about this.

Post 3 by rat (star trek rules!) on Wednesday, 28-Mar-2007 17:14:51

what is this about? all i know is there is some openings for some cls. what happened?

Post 4 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Wednesday, 28-Mar-2007 17:21:35

If you read the comunity leaders application topick you will find out. Basically Harp, Mell and kc8pnl are not comunity leaders any more. And even themselves don't know why. And we have got two new once mgolball and another one. I don't remember his name. On the other board we have been promised that we would vote between people to become comunity leaders but we didn't.
Some people believe that it might be a joke for April first. I hope it is.

Post 5 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Wednesday, 28-Mar-2007 19:51:03

If it isn't an April fool's joke, and I think it is, the sacked cls should use their lifetime memberships quickly, because the lifespan of this site is in doubt under dictatorial rule.

lol bob. I think you are right.

Post 7 by charisma (Here today, gone tomorrow.) on Wednesday, 28-Mar-2007 23:14:36

Well whatever happened, I hope this site does stay up, because it is sometimes a cool place to hang out, and meet people. And play games if your bored and havenothing else to do.

Post 8 by Liz (The Original) on Wednesday, 28-Mar-2007 23:53:53

If it's an April Fool's joke, it's a slightly fucked up one, in my opinion. Oh, well, people will do what they want regardless; life goes on.

Post 9 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 5:19:41

i agree with post number 7. this is a cool site. and april fool? don't know what to say

Post 10 by crimson x (This site is so "educational") on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 8:03:53

like before I think the cl's should not have been sacked

Post 11 by Goblin (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 11:03:55

Charisma I must disagree this site is categorically the most boring waste of time I have ever encountered..I've had more fun sorting out my socks, than I've ever had on here.

Post 12 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 11:05:17

Then go sort your socks and leave us alone.

Post 13 by rat (star trek rules!) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 11:16:05

wow you must be bored, over 6000 board posts? hmmm...

Post 14 by Liz (The Original) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 11:17:17

Hmm, well if you have had more fun sorting out your socks, then why are you on here? lol

Post 15 by Harp (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 11:36:33

You've written some pretty stupid things in your time on this web site Goblin, but this? You've just trumped yourself! Well done for that because seriously, you can't have much of a life if you rate this below the excitement level of folding socks and yet you spend so much time on here.

As for the topic itself I can only offer this by way of useful explaination. Scot AKA kc8pnl was sacked for not being here enough. Read into that what you will given his apparent replacements. I was dismissed for calling Jay a few choice words after Mel was dismissed so really, it is only Mel's dismissle that we're in the dark over.

I point blank refuse to believe that she'd ever have done anything to break site rules, hense my anger with Jay, but there it is. You all saw the news file and that's what it said. *Shrugs*.

Dan..

Post 16 by jessmonsilva (Taking over the boards, one topic at a time.) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 12:06:37

goblin if it is such a waste of time then why do you come on here. Obviously you wouldn't want to spend such precious time on this site?...?

Post 17 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 13:43:18

maybe it is all a horrible joke after all and goblin will be made cl. <grin>

Post 18 by crimson x (This site is so "educational") on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 17:10:39

now their are two topics basicly saying the same thing lol

Post 19 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 19:42:35

If you haven't read it check
disgraced cl
If true, really sad.
If a joke (which I thought it was until seeing this) really sad too.

Okay, I'm through posting about this topic and all its ramifications and speculations etc.

Goblin, "sorting socks" <lol>

Post 20 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 20:00:09

I don't know. Still things sound strange.
Surely if J wanted to be fare he would discuss Mell's situation with the other comunity leaders and it should be a vote or something before she was out. But nobody knew anything about it and Dan had this argument with J and he is out as well. Things don't sound right to me. It is either a bigg mess or a bigg joke.
Anyway i don't have anything more to say about this. I won't post again to any of the comunity leaders topicks.
The only thing i want to say is that i am sorry that Dan, Scot and mell are not comunity leaders any more. I liked all 3 and i think they did a very good job.

Post 21 by crimson x (This site is so "educational") on Friday, 30-Mar-2007 8:12:38

Dan is back as cl

Post 22 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 30-Mar-2007 9:36:36

Yep yep, Dan's back, whether he wants to be or not. Lol. As for Mel, you can go and read her board topic if you're still mystified over that one.
And I agree with Nikos. J's going to do what J's going to do, regardless of how many topics we create to express our confusion and dislike of what's happening, so why bother?

Post 23 by The Roman Battle Mask (Making great use of my Employer's time.) on Friday, 30-Mar-2007 20:02:14

Post 24 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Friday, 30-Mar-2007 21:15:06

And now ChrisN is gone. What the hell is Jay thinking?

Post 25 by Jess227 on Friday, 30-Mar-2007 22:48:15

If it's a joke: Alot of people will be ticked off.
If it's reality: Time to move on.

Seriously didn't the zone do a april fools joke last year? And further more alot of you like to assume or speculate over the banned CL from coming back. If she wanted to talk about what she did, she would have. But since she didn't, why is it such a big deal? I mean I understand this person was well liked. And maybe you got the chance to exchange comments outside the site. But really I could care less if someone got thrown off. I mean all J wants to do is make the site fair, balanced to how he sees fit. So if he fires someone as a admin or a cl then big deal. Just be a supportive friend to the person fired. Cause they are going to need a ear and a shoulder to vent on, not someone speculating what they did or did not do.

CLs and additional admins will come and go throught the lifetime of any website community.

I gotta ask cause I'm curious... Who's hoping to get the CL spots that are vacent? I have a application out, but I might withdraw mine because I'm not on here as much as I use to be.

To the leaders of the site: You may want to make it so your staff list archive is not publically available. :D The following was found after a brief looksee.

OK, good point.

*snickers*

Post 30 by admin (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 31-Mar-2007 12:33:42

Indeed, we have been found out. But sadly, not all of what has happened is an april fool. Chris, amongst other things, has allowed our confidential staff list to become public information. This is a severe breach of security and the integrity that I expected of him, so the post on the news file stands. I trust that whoever replaces him will have the confidence to lead us into the future.

Post 31 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 31-Mar-2007 12:45:37

Hmmm, so now to believe, or not to believe? That is the question.

Post 32 by admin (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 31-Mar-2007 12:50:20

There's certainly some hostility going on. I wake up to find the site completely down and a bunch of pissed Emails. Chris?

Post 33 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Saturday, 31-Mar-2007 12:51:12

except that it isn't april yet, so technically it's not an april fool's joke. in fact, traditionally, the "april fool's joke" must be carried out between midnight and midday on the 1st of april. "april fools" being carried out before or after that time essentially means that the joke is on the joker so ...

If this is all a joke, then to be brutally honest it's all been going on far too long and has caused real upset and alienation amongst the users.

a better way would have been to put an announcement on the site on april 1st and cause a bit of uproar but for this to go on for over a week is way ott.

Post 34 by PorkInCider (Wind assisted.) on Saturday, 31-Mar-2007 13:08:01

All I would say is that if you are the owner it is for you to protect the security of such information ultimately, whether or not you choose to allow others the ability to have such power. So, it's actually your own stupidity if in fact this isn't just an atempt at making things go on just a little bit longer. How fucking pathetic.

Post 35 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Saturday, 31-Mar-2007 13:16:30

Make note, everyone, I called it! I said from the beginning it was an April fool's joke.

The previous post by j on this topic is a pathetic attempt to try to preserve the foolishness in april fools. Sorry, it won't work. I totally agree with blackbird.

Enough is enough.

Bob

Okay Bob, here's your pat on the back for calling it. Now that we all know it was a damn joke, could we get back to business as usual? And let Chris have his damn job back.

Post 40 by cuddle_kitten84 (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 31-Mar-2007 15:30:19

did someone remove my last post? about premium memberships? goshl, definitely a unfunny and b gone on for way too long and tinkered with people's feelings. not, good.

Post 41 by changedheart421 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Saturday, 31-Mar-2007 15:44:30

I personally feel that whatever reason they got dismissed it is none of our business . Why do people constantly have to thrive on gossip.

Post 42 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Saturday, 31-Mar-2007 17:07:34

The reason people go for this is because they thrive on it! Jay knows that if he stirs things up, everyone will go crazy, especially those with a whole lot of time on their hands and nothing better to do than to stay logged into this site like so many do 24/7. Hey, wouldn't it be really funny if 3 PM came tomorrow and everyone decided to leave? That way the site would be completely empty and there would be a big announcement but nobody would be there to hear it. Honestly I agree with the others here. It is good to play an April fools joke now and then, i'm for a little fun. and yes, even a bit of buildup is ok, if executed correctly. But this whole situation was handled very poorly. How I would've done it is to post the message on the site maybe today to get people wondering why there werea few CL's going away and to just let people speculate a bit. But with all this buildup, the joke doesn't have the same effect. and with the inside e-mails posted for everyone to see, that pretty much blows your spot up right there. If it were me I would just scrap this huge announcement bullshit and say better luck next year. everyone knows it's a joke now, so why even bother? nobody's gonna believe it anyway. Look at the posts. Everyone knows what day it'll be then.

Post 43 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 01-Apr-2007 7:21:17

I agree! this joke went on for far to long! and I for one, won't believe anything in the news file for a while. Not that I really fell for it, cause I just got totally lost! but cause what if this 3 pm thingy is just another joke to get people loged in? I mean, what if this is just a joke to get the premium users all fired up, cause they think somethings going to happen to their premium memberships?

Post 44 by Brooke (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 01-Apr-2007 15:49:06

LOL, maybe I have a sick, twisted sense of humor. But this was good. I had been pretty sure (though NOT positive) that this was a joke. Honestly, it was fun to keep that thought to myself and watch almost EVERYONE freak out. To me, the only thing that could have made it a little more believable was if the changes weren't quite so drastic, like leaving it at the whole CL incident instead of starting up the whole thing with Chris. But it was still a damn good time to read through everyone's pissed off posts!!!!!

Post 45 by Twinklestar09 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Sunday, 01-Apr-2007 15:59:04

Yeah all this was pretty funny. *smile* I honestly wasn't too concerned about why the CL's were being let go and replaced, or even that the Zone was shut down for a short time, but it was crazy just seeing how angry it actually made some people. It kind of did make me wonder though, and I thought to post to 1 of these discussions during the past few days but wanted to see what would happen with all this. I didn't know whether it was a joke or not personally, but I've heard of people comming and going and saying they were going to do so and all kinds of drama on this site, so that's why I wasn't that worried about it. But the waiting for that announcement today was kind of fun to me and the temporary premium membership, even if it is only for a week was a nice surprise. *smile*
